AviationSafetyX Summation:
A Cessna P206A Super Skylane, registered as XB-RNC, crashed in a mountainous area between the communities of Tinajas and Los Amoles in the municipality of La Yesca, Nayarit, on January 15, 2025, around 14:00 local time. The aircraft had recently departed from Puente de Camotlán Airstrip, Nayarit, en route to Guadalajara’s Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport (GDL/MMGL). Prior to this flight, the plane had arrived in Puente de Camotlán from Los Mochis, Sinaloa, to attend local festivities.
Reports indicate that shortly after takeoff on its return journey, the aircraft nosedived and exploded upon impact, resulting in the destruction of the plane and the deaths of all six occupants onboard. The victims included pilots Agustín Chávez Díaz and Ángel Magaña Rodríguez, as well as passengers Juan José Sánchez Mendoza, Jesús Benítez Álvarez Gálvez, José Alberto Calderón Chávez, and Kevin Iván Gómez Madrigal. Some sources initially reported four fatalities, but further investigation confirmed six occupants were aboard.
The wreckage was located in a remote and rugged area, posing significant challenges for rescue and recovery teams, who required more than eight hours to reach the site. Once there, authorities found that the aircraft and the remains of the occupants had been severely burned, complicating identification efforts. It is expected that the bodies will be transported to the state capital for legal autopsies and formal identification.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, with the sudden nosedive and subsequent explosion as critical focal points. Information is currently derived from news reports, social media, and unofficial sources, and no definitive conclusions regarding the technical or environmental factors contributing to the crash have been drawn.
