Aviation Safety X Report:
On the evening of Thursday, January 16, 2025, a Eurocopter EC 130B4 helicopter, registered PR-WVT and manufactured in 2001 (MSN 3490), was involved in an accident near Caieiras, São Paulo, Brazil. The aircraft, categorized as private, departed São Paulo–Campo de Marte Airport (SBMT) with a destination of Americana, São Paulo. During the en route phase of the flight, the helicopter encountered adverse weather conditions and lost GPS signal in dense forested terrain.

The helicopter ultimately crashed in a wooded area known as Morro Tico Tico, near the Conjunto Habitacional Nosso Teto. There were four occupants on board: the pilot and three passengers. Two of the passengers, identified as businessman André Feldman and his wife, Juliana Elisa Alves Maria Feldman, sustained fatal injuries. The surviving occupants, the pilot and an 11-year-old girl named Bethina Feldman, were found alive with minor injuries. It was reported that they spent the night outside the wreckage, using an umbrella for shelter.

The accident was first reported to local emergency services at approximately 23:28 local time. The aircraft was located the following morning, around 06:00, by a São Paulo Military Police helicopter (Águia). Rescue operations included landing on a nearby highway to provide immediate assistance. The survivors were subsequently transported to the Hospital das Clínicas in São Paulo, where they were reported to be in stable condition, conscious, and oriented.

Initial accounts from the pilot suggest spatial disorientation caused by adverse weather as a contributing factor to the accident. The helicopter sustained severe damage and was classified as destroyed. The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has tasked investigators from the Fourth Regional Service for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Seripa IV) with conducting the initial investigation. The team, part of the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Cenipa), has begun collecting data, assessing the wreckage, and preserving evidence to determine the definitive cause of the crash. Further details regarding the incident remain under investigation.
