A Beechcraft A36TC Bonanza encountered mechanical issues and crashed approximately 3 miles west of East Aurora, New York, following a declared emergency by the pilot. The pilot was fatally injured, and the aircraft was destroyed.
ADS-B data shows the aircraft departed Capital Region International Airport (LAN/KLAN) in Lansing, Michigan, at 14:53 UTC. It climbed to an altitude of approximately 12,500 feet and headed toward its intended destination, Westchester County Airport (HPN/KHPN) in White Plains, New York. However, at 16:11 UTC, the aircraft turned north and began descending, ultimately crashing near East Aurora at 16:22 UTC during an attempted diversion to Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF/KBUF), New York.
